Have you ever heard of a song called “La vie en rose”?
The original song sang by Edith Piaf, one of a legendary French singer, who brought this song so famous all over the world. This song tells a story of romance, that would make your life look wonderful and happily ever after. Too bad, that’s not going to happen to poor people.
I don’t mean a romance, but the wonderful life, such as enjoying your life, buy stuffs you have ever dream of, could be Sport Car, luxury yacht, but for some people they just intend to own original software.
It’s unfortunate for my friend, let say his name Bejo(in Javanese means “Lucky”) that he does not have Windows XP O/S, so he has to buy non-original operating system so that he can use and does his work with his low-end system.
Since his neighbor has internet connection, I know that he used to borrow the internet, and just as I thought, accidentally he press “Update Windows”, and the Microsoft Server detects he owns non-genuine Windows XP Pro.
Since Microsoft releases Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2, it is well-equipped with a small execution file, called WGATray.exe, that can automatically detects piracy software, if you click “update Windows” and connect to the internet.
After that, whenever you boot/reboot your system, the “nagging Blue Star of WGATray.exe” that lies over the right down corner in Windows tray, giving two solutions: 1. Resolve later 2. Connect to Microsoft website.
The picture I meant, is like this
When someday he called me, and talking about his system got down, he then asked me to come to his house, as he thinks I know everything, a Computer Doctor, he used to call me, oh please Bejo, you are exaggerating!
I then came and see what’s the problem was. Yes, just like I thought he had bought un-genuine operating system. I know his condition, there no use to force him to buy the original one, as I know how much he earns, so…I do this following steps to make him smile again.
How to eliminate the nagging Windows Genuine Activation execution file:
-
Open your Task Manager by pressing altogether Ctrl+Alt+Del
-
Highlight the process called “wgatray.exe”, right click, then select End
-
Restart/reboot your system
-
Enter Safe-Mode
-
Click Start, then Run, type “Regedit”, then Enter.
-
On Regedit, seek this HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\microsoft\windowsNT\CurrentVersion\WinlogonNotify, then delete folder “WINLOGON”
-
Just for sure, you need to have deleted these files:
- C:\WINDOWS\system32\WgaLogon.dll
- C: \WINDOWS\system32\WgaTray.exe
- C:\WINDOWS\system32\LegitCheckControl.dll
8. Restart your system, and it should be back to normal.
Now Bejo can smile again…
